The three Wise Men didn't actually come to Bethlehem (Bethlehem) from the direction of the east. Like east of Bethlehem. They came from a place called the East.
If there was a star in the sky that guided them it set directly over Bethlehem. They could have come from an Easterly direction but there is no proof of that.
It's possible , they came from another planet and just got camels outside of Bethlehem. This would be a more plausible explanation than the idea that they came from the east. Wherever that is. No one has ever found out where the east was, that they supposedly came from, have they?
Ancient spacemen or three men who just happened to show up out of nowhere, with camels and spices and gold? Which explanation sounds more plausible to you? I say space aliens that were truckin' around the solar system that just happened to see the star over Bethlehem and decided to check stuff out. And then they got a message from an agent of God, probably an angel, and the angel told them that Jesus was born the new king. So they went to say "howdy".
( You notice they were dressed funny too.) Probably covering up their spacesuits.....
